It started out as a routine capaign act to promote himself at the highly prestigious Iberoamerican University, what Enrique Peña Nieto failed to forsee was that it turned out to be the start of what could be Mexico’s most needed intellectual revolution.

Students from different universities all over the country are organizing themselves to manifest their rejection for presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto and the manipulation of the media that comes along with him.

In Mexico 60% of the population don’t have access to the internet, all the information they get is from television, the main broadcasting companies are sold out and make their business and their living out of political manipulation. Citizens in Mexico think it’s time for that to change.

Students decided not to be a part of Peña Nieto’s mediatic circus, they raised their voice, they showed the truth, they replied to him and to the media without fear.

Saturday May 19 will be an important day in mexican history, citizens from all over the country will go out to the streets to manifest ther rejection towards the statu quo.

The message they want the world to hear is of outmost importance and of global impact because it is happening all over the world at the same time, the message underlines: We are the new generation of citizens,  we represent students, as well as grandmothers, parents, adults from city and country, we are a new generation  that thinks and questions, that reads, learns and knows, we don’t sell out, we refuse to be accomplices of the manipulation of information done by the media, we don’t forget the truth, we want to tell the truth, we will help the rest of the citizens to know the truth.

It’s a civil exercise, one that Mexico is not used to, an exercise were citizens get involved insted of being passive spectators, they speak for themselves and more dangerously they think.

«After what happened at the Iberoamerican University I said to myself, I have to do something! I can’t sit back and watch while this happens, I couldn’t stand the image of my kids asking me about this moment in our country’s history and say I did nothing» says the leader of the marching that will take place in Cancun, simultaneously with the marchings in Mexico City and the rest of the country.

«The media don’t show what is really going on but they can’t ignore a whole country united manifesting itself for a reason. We grew up listening to our parents and grandparents complain of the way this country is torn apart government after government and we are carrying that burden left by the Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI), we don’t want that reality» says Erick Hidalgo former Iberoamerican University student and now cancun citizen.

The main target for the marching is to be a pacific manifestation of the truth, to inform those citizens that can’t access to other sources of information about who Enrique Peña Nieto, the Revolutionary Institutional Party, and the media really are.

«We are going to plant the seeds that one day will become trees that break apart the cement, how is it possible that people forget about the death of Paulette or the masacre at Atenco?» says the leader of the movement in Cancun.

The reality of the world is changing, it’s Mexico’s turn and not even the big owners of interests or political parties can stop it now. It’s a crucial time for Mexico and that means that it’s time for mexicans to change.
